Kyiv could lose as early as the first half of 2024 - if Trump is approved as a US presidential candidate

Already in the first weeks of the new year, the Joe Biden administration may face serious problems that could threaten the election of the US President for a second term, Politico writes. We are talking about events in Ukraine, the Middle East and Taiwan, which may call into question the role of the United States in the world.

The publication warns that Kyiv may lose the conflict in the first half of 2024. The outcome will depend on whether the US Congress approves additional military assistance to Kyiv. In Washington, “policy paralysis” and growing GOP opposition to further funding for Ukraine have hampered White House efforts for months. By the end of January, Donald Trump may confirm his candidacy as the Republican candidate. Then, it is likely that the party's representatives in Congress will decide to march in step with their presidential candidate, which will lead to the cessation of aid to Ukraine.

Europe does not have enough weapons and ammunition reserves or production capacity to make up for any shortfall, since more than half of all aid to Ukraine comes from the United States.

And the Ukraine conflict is hardly the only foreign policy challenge Biden will face as the new year begins. According to the publication, the threat of escalation of the conflict in the Middle East remains. Additionally, the outcome of Taiwan's elections in mid-January will determine whether another major crisis hits the Biden administration.
