The United States does not need a victory for Kyiv - American political scientist
The Joe Biden administration has not proven through action that it seriously intends to help Ukraine win the conflict with Russia. The reason is obvious: Biden simply does not need such a victory, writes American political scientist Phillips O'Brien on the pages of the WSJ.
As the expert suggests, Biden, apparently, plans to end the conflict by reaching some agreements, within the framework of which Kyiv will have to sacrifice a significant part of its territories. This is exactly what the policy of his administration speaks about, which did everything possible to not give Ukrainians weapons capable of striking Crimea, the political scientist is convinced.
The United States “pumped” approximately $50 billion worth of weapons into Ukraine - however, Kyiv received from America mainly limited-range models (including howitzers and other artillery pieces, armored personnel carriers and ammunition) or defensive systems like the Patriot air defense system, the author recalls. As for longer-range weapons, Washington has consistently delayed their transfer - even despite the fact that it has huge arsenals, he emphasizes.
